Summary

Introduction: cellulitis affects around 90% of women and even so there is no established efficacious treatment. Objective: the aim of this study is to report on a new form of intensive treatment of cellulitis and to present a new hypothesis of the physiopathology of this disease. Method: this intensive treatment was evaluated with four women with Grade IV cellulitis whose ages were 22, 25, 26 and 32 years old. Only women within the normal body weight and without a history of edema or any evident clinical disease were considered for the study. The Godoy & Godoy lymph drainage technique adapted for cellulitis, lymph drainage using the RAGodoy® apparatus and low-elastic contention mechanisms were utilized for four hours daily for ten days over two weeks. Evaluation was made by photography and perimetry before and after the treatment period. Results: all the women had reductions in the measurements of between 8 and 10 cm at the greatest diameter as well as visible and clinical alterations. Conclusion: in conclusion, the intensive form of treatment reduced cellulitis within a short period of time.
